Beginning to get busy around here

There is a lot going on here at the old LS Place homestead. First thing coming up is a bridal shower for my mother-in-law this Saturday. Thankfully, I will not actually be here for the actual shower, but that doesn't mean I'm don't get to share all the joy of preparing our house. Cleaning our mess of a house takes a couple of days, so we'd better get started. Having two boys means you keep finding little pieces of toys all around the place way after you think you got everything cleaned.

This will be the second wedding for my mother-in-law. She got married rather young and in a simple wedding. So she didn't really have a chance to experience all the frills of a traditional wedding. So Claudine is making sure that this time she gets all the frills. Which she deserves by the way.

Wednesday - a week from today, we are having a safety fence put in around the pool. We have a fence around our backyard, but with Bobby being the dangerous combination of very mobile and curious, Claudine thought it would be wise to put in a fence around the pool itself. That way we can be in the backyard and not have to worry about Bobby taking an spontaneous swim. Of course, this means that one of these weekends, I will have to open the pool for the season. I have never actually opened a pool before. I closed a pool for the first time last fall. I've learned way to much about pools this year. But I'm sure it will take a full weekend to get remove and clean the cover, vacuum the liner, install the slide and ladders, and get the chemicals balanced. Ah, The joys of home ownership.

Two days after the fence being installed, we will be having our house treated for termites. We've had a couple of outbreaks - "swarms" the exterminator dudes call it. Whatever they're called, what happens is a shit load of termites come out of the walls and start looking everywhere for a nice place to set up shop. What this treatment requires is that we clean out our garage. Uuuuhhh. Our garage just barely holds our cars. It is packed with boxes and boxes of crap that we have accumulated. A large chunk of it is baby clothes that we can't get rid until we pump out that third kid. Although if that third kid is a girl, then we can give away a lot of them because they are all boy clothes anyway. So I have to clean out the garage by next Friday. Oh yeah, I have to pull up a load of molding for the exterminators to expose some of the sub-floor so they can drill and drop their Agent Orange-for-termites. Ah, The joys of home ownership.

A week after that, May 20th will be Jake's 5th birthday party. So anything that got messed up since the shower, needs to be cleaned up again. Plus all those little toy pieces need to be picked up again. Presents, food, DRINK all need to be shopped for. Yuk.

Two weeks after that is the wedding itself. Claudine has plenty planned for the week before the wedding. As much as I might want to grumble about having to take care of the boys so much, I imagine it must be pretty cool to get the chance to share all this wedding stuff with your mom. I mean Claudine's mom was there for all of our wedding stuff, now Claudine gets to be there for her. She will be her mother's matron of honor (snicker... tee-hee... giggle... "matron"...snort).

So I'm so glad that this is the month that I wanted to attempt more journal entries. I'll have lots more to write about, but no time to do it!
