An interesting thing happened this morning. I took Jake and Bobby to school today. OK, that's not interesting in and of itself. The really interesting thing was that Bobby almost wrecked my truck. And when I say "wrecked", I really mean scratched.
On occasion, I pass the garage door opener back to Bobby so that he can get the big thrill of pressing the button and watching the door close. Sometimes I do it to cheer him up if he is upset. Sometimes I do it for no reason at all, just to let him have a little fun. Today it was really cold outside so I loaded Jake and Bobby into the truck before I opened the garage door. I started the truck and passed the remote back to Bobby. I told Bobby to press the button to open the door so we could go. Up the door went and Bobby was excited because he could hear it and the garage filled with light from outside. I started to slowly back out of the garage.
It was then that a small little alarm went off in my head. I didn't know what it was but something started to bother me. Jake told me that I should fasten my seat belt. For some reason, I didn't want to take the time out to fasten the belt. Something was wrong. But what? I don't know but I went a little faster out of the door. PTWAAAN-NNGGGGG! My antenna twanged off the descending door as I pulled out. Ohhhhh. THAT was what was bothering me. I had left the remote that controlled the garage door in the hands of a 2 year old. A garage door that I was driving through. And a 2 year old that I encourage to press the button. I am, as they say, a dope.
As I've outlined in the past few entries, our house is in a state of flux. We have furniture that we've acquired that we don't have settled just yet and we have junk to move from room to room so that we can have work done on the house. In these pictures, Bobby discovered that this end table is the perfect size to make a little house for him.

I include this picture to show the project that our dining room has become. Claudine probably wouldn't like me to put this picture on the web because she's sick (hence the red nose. She's not a drunk you know). But she's so cute in this picture and Bobby had just given her a big hug, so I have to. Also in this picture you can see the nasty '70s wallpaper. Those "palms" are raised and fuzzy. You also might be able to make out the bad faux Tiffany lamp shade in the upper right hand corner. I always bang my head on that thing. It is the first thing to go after the room gets painted. All these pictures link to larger pictures. But I warn you 56k modem users, I DO mean larger.
