Well, it's that time again. I'm going back to the hospital in about an hour for another attempt at this operation. It has been over a year since I first saw the doctor about getting this taken care of. After many sleep tests, consultations, assisted breathing machine mask fittings (which I never used) and snore-filled, air gasping nights, I think I might actually be having the procedure to correct my problem(s). I don't have a fever. I'm not congested. My mouth is a little dry because I haven't been able to eat or drink anything since midnight. And that serves to illustrate to me how much I breath through my mouth at night. Since I breath relatively normally (that is to say, through my nose) during the day, I never realized that I primarily use my mouth to breath at night and then I just drink something first thing in the morning. Not being able to drink something after breathing through your mouth all night is really disgusting and uncomfotable. Just in case you were wondering.
As for the eating part, I approached it much differently than two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, I was starting to feel poorly that night so I just went to sleep relatively early. Not this time. I stayed up playing on the computer and kept eating junk right up until midnight. It was wonderful. Since I've seriously started watching my food intake (about a year ago), I've tried to never eat anything after 7:00. I never realized before how much crap I ate late into the night. It was nice to relive that for a night.
So say goodbye to this nose. You can see in this picture that even though my face is turned slightly to your left, my nose is looking at something interesting over your right shoulder. I hope my appearance isn't changed too much after this thing. Also the majority of the work is going to be in my throat. We'll see if I get to keep any of my uvula. Well whatever happens, I'll be chronicaling it all hear for you. I know you're all hoping for a least a little blood and believe me, I want to bring it to you.
