So when I said yesterday that this family had just some lingering illnesses, I was basically a big, fat liar. My little 5 month old fidget girly-girl had to be picked up early from her daycare because she had a fever. It worked out kind of OK because I was able to get the bulk of my work done this morning. I got the call to pick her up around 2 PM. I was out all morning at our fledgling NJ sales office that still is without Internet access. I don't remember if I mentioned this before (and I'm too lazy to look) but this office space was found and leased at the last possible minute before the majority of people and stuff moved up to Rhode Island. By the time the powers that be decided on this location, I was totally focused on getting our servers moved up to the new headquarters and didn't place the new T1 order in time. Not nearly in time. And Verizon doesn't just jump when you want to them to.
Man, am I all over the place. Anyway I was at that location this morning, stringing cables and setting up switches, routers and firewall boxes. Ahead of time, no less. The T1 line isn't scheduled to be turned up until Thursday. But I actually planned ahead and did as much as I could *before* I needed to. So Friday (and I say Friday, because Verizon quoted me the ever-helpful timeframe of "between 8 AM and 5 PM on Thursday") I can come in, just plug in the cables and it should work. I might have to make a few changes but the bulk of the work is already done.
And Annie isn't the only one who is sick. Remember - being sick was the topic of this entry? Claudine came home today and said that she isn't feeling well and that her throat is starting to hurt. Let's see... she is studying like a madwoman. She isn't getting much sleep because of a teething baby. And she's putting a ton of stress on herself because of this test. I can't think of anything better than a sore throat when the future of your entire career rests on taking a 3 hour oral exam.
