So where the hell have I been? Well, I took the month of October off... apparently. Am I a lazy slob? Probably. Do I still want to do this? Yes.
So what's my problem? I could say that my desk was in disarray, but it has been done. What really gets my goat - if I had a goat - is that I really don't have a good setup for writing. I like to just spew this stuff out when I get the urge. But I don't really have a good setup for doing that. I originally thought I had this wonderful idea for working between two computers. I have an internal Zip drive at home and a USB drive that I carry with my laptop. Genius, no? Actually, not so much. It was always a pain to drag out, plug in, and connect the USB drive. But it was easy to upload with the always-on T1 line. At home it was easy to put the Zip disk in the desktop (if, I actually remembered to bring my computer bag with the disk in it upstairs), but I still have my crappy dial-up to deal with (Damn you, Cablevision!).
My response to this was simply not to deal. I just ignored this site and all you lovely readers. The 3 of you. (Actually, I know one of my teachers from high school found this site through Classmates.com after I signed up for my reunion.) But, in typical geek fashion, I started coming up with ideas that would automate my journal entries. But I don't want to do the Dairyland, Blogger, Greymatter route. The one thing I still felt proud about regarding this site, was that I did it all myself with a text editor and a graphics program. So I started thinking about FTP scripts and HTML macros and all sorts of dorky things.
We'll see where this takes us.
