Moving Day

Go On, Go Home

Send Me Love

Sunday was the day that we had to move most of the furniture out of Claudine's grandmother's house. Read this entry for details. Her house is finally being sold and the closing date is this Thursday. Various people in the family are getting different things. We got a couch, two chairs, and various tables, end tables and lamps. Oh, and a VCR. Claudine's father got the washer and dryer and the refrigerator. The problem is that he doesn't currently have a place to put them. He will be moving into a house in the summer sometime. So, good, kind daughter that Claudine is, she volunteered our garage. Not that I mind. I like her dad and his family a lot. I just like my garage too. I like to be able to pull my truck into the garage. Garage or not, we had a lot of furniture to move. Claudine went ahead and rented a U-haul truck for the day. We had toyed with making a few trips with my truck and her brother Bill's truck, but once you enter into the refrigerator moving stage of things, you really need a big truck. And a hand cart. And a loading ramp. And, preferably, some moving guys. We rented everything except the guys.

There were a couple of complications with the plan. One problem was that Claudine was on call. Which meant that if Claudine had any patients to deliver, I had to watch Jake and Bobby while moving furniture. The other problem was that Bobby woke up sick Sunday morning. Sick, like barf-all-over-me-at-breakfast sick. Bill's wife Pam volunteered to watch the boys at the house, but she had to drop off her daughter Olivia, 'cause she didn't want her to catch anything from Bobby. Then Claudine's dad pulled up so his wife, Joyce and their kids helped watch the boys. Eventually Claudine even showed up. It took a few hours but we got most of the stuff out of there.

The problem was where were the appliances going to go. We have so much of our own junk in the garage, we barely have room to open the car doors when we get in and out. I moved some stuff around and we got everything to fit. I have to drive my truck in slightly diagonally, but it does fit. After that we ate a load of pizza and had to put Bobby to sleep early because he felt so crappy (crappily?).
