So what is it about October? If you look back to October of last year you'll see that I was just as much of a slacker as I was this year. Well, what was I doing this month to keep me away from all you adoring readers, you may be asking?
The manufacturing company that I work for moved its entire operations from New Jersey to Rhode Island. I may have mentioned that once or twice before, but September 30th was the last day at the New Jersey plant/office. And there were many servers to be moved. Ok, 2 servers. And a crappy VAX mainframe. But I had to make sure that the other plants could see our file server, mail server, and mainframe system with no down time. It took a great deal of time and angst on my part to plan and implement a move like this. And, of course, not ONE THING went smoothly. So for the last month or so, I've been trying to get my company back on track and at the same time setting up an office here in my house to still control all the systems that I did when I was live and in person. I didn't think I would have the discipline to work from home. I always thought I'd be slacking off and stuff, but I'm finding that I'm putting in more hours than I did when I was in an actual office location.
In other personal stuff, Claudine is preparing for her "board certification". I don't know really what that means, but I do know that she has to appear before a board of doctors and defend her case list from her first 3 years of practice. And if all goes well, she will get her board certification from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. But it is putting her through the wringer and consequently putting added pressure on all of us. She went away for a week in October to attend a study course in Chicago. So that was fun. She studied 11 to 12 hours a day and I worked full time and kept track of three kids. The youngest of the three is currently enjoying the wonders of growing teeth. Which makes her sleep not so much.
I did the stupid thing of adding a web cam web cam to this site. I don't know why I did it. But it's there if you want to take a look.
So I'm going back to everyday now. Or almost everyday anyway. At least through the end of the year. I miss writing this stuff and thinking about a topic everyday. Now I just have to find a way to bring back all the people that were reading me throughout the summer that I have since alienated with a long, unexplained absence.
Oh, and I'm still playing Grand Theft Auto III. Just in case you were wondering.
